Lahore High Courts bans Punjab Food Authority from advertising raids on social media

The Lahore High Courts has banned Punjab Food Authority from sharing videos and pictures of its raids conducted on Restaurant, Hotels and Bakeries on Social Media.

According to the Petition filed by the Hotels and Restaurants Association, the identity cannot be shown of a person or organization until and unless they were proved guilty. It also added that such act has caused damage to their business and goodwill. The Counsel also submitted that the method adopted by the authority for raid was also illegal in the absence of Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs). He further contended that the present structure of the PFA was illegal as stake holders were not included.

Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh passed the orders restraining PFA from campaigning its activities on social media forums and issued notices to the Punjab government and the PFA to respond by October 20 to a petition against the practice.
