International Law Students Association Opens Chapter in Karachi

I am proud to announce that the inaugural batch of Themis School of Law, based in Karachi, Pakistan has joined the International Law Students Association (ILSA) and has established the ILSA Karachi Chapter. ILSA is a not-for-profit association that comprises of students and renowned lawyers, who are dedicated to promoting international law, through global linkages at both the domestic and international level.

The ILSA Karachi Chapter aims to organize events and activities, including academic conferences, seminars, lectures, and mooting competitions based on matters relating to International Law and its relevance.  The ILSA Karachi Chapter will seek to promote International Law and in order to do so, will invite law students from all over Pakistan in order to participate in the activities of the chapter. The founding executive committee of the ILSA Karachi Chapter strongly believes that due the rapid process of globalization, it is essential to also equip law students with knowledge of International Law in order to keep abreast with the latest developments globally. We aim to establish a cadre advisory panel of lawyers, members of civil society, and law students who will guide and contribute towards the success of the ILSA Karachi Chapter.

The ILSA Karachi Chapter is a purely student lead initiative, with faculty members being its support system. The law students at Themis School of Law eagerly wish to extend the benefits relating to ILSA and International Law across the community at large. The students aim to run various campaigns to aware the youth of Pakistan on matters concerning International Law and its impact on Pakistan. The ILSA Karachi Chapter presently has 36 members but it aims to inspire young law students to be part of the ILSA movement and grow this network.

We welcome the legal fraternity in Pakistan for their feedback and suggestions on how to take the mission forward and collaborate with other institutions. As Pakistani youth has been excelling in every field over the years, we hope as law students to stand strong on our part and excel in this area of law as well.
