The National Commission for Minority Education Act, 2015 (Private Members’ Bill)

The National Commission for Minority Education Act, 2015 (Private Members’ Bill)

Proposed and Moved by: Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam (Member, National Assembly)

Status: Pending

Summary: The bill aims to establish a Commission for Minority Education, an entity which has been long overdue and demanded by the minority communities in Pakistan. The major problem raised by minority communities was that of equal educational opportunities, when asked. Participants from  various minority groups affirmed the need to provide access to education without discrimination and asked that restrictive conditions imposed by the existing system of the educational institutions for minority communities, be avoided, as guaranteed in the Constitution of Pakistan. Hence, the goal of this bill is to set up a National Commission which will overlook and try to fix the above mentioned issues faced by minority communities.
