New York Senate’s Law On Legalizing Fantasy Sports

New York Senate approved a bill last month for legalizing fantasy sports, referring to them as games of skill and not gambling. The bill also held that fantasy sports websites would give 15.5 percent of their profits earned to an educational fund managed by the state lottery.

The bill was proposed by state Senator John Bonacic and even though the Attorney General Eric Schneiderman opposed the legalization of fantasy sports, the bill was passed in the Senate with a vote of 45-17.
