Law Society Says London Needs More Non-European Lawyers

According to the Law Society, international law firms based in the UK must be allowed to recruit lawyers from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) for London to remain a global center of legal excellence.

Due to evidence gathered directly from City law firms, the Law Society is responding to a call from the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) for evidence on how to reduce skilled worker migration to the UK. The ability to recruit internationally is crucial to law firms gaining footholds in emerging global markets.
International employees bring expertise that is not available in the UK labor market, but is needed in firms advising on complex deals across multiple jurisdictions.
