Three special courts have been formed in accordance with the Protection of Pakistan Act 2014 to deal with cases relating to terrorism. There are to be five special courts in total to be formed in the state.
The special court in Lahore is to be headed by Judge Mukarrab Khan, Judge Zafar Khosa will head the Quetta special court and Judge Anwar Ali Khan is to head the Peshawar special court.
The necessary amendments in the Pakistan Army Act 1952 (known as The Pakistan Army (Amendment) Act, 2015) have been made to empower the special trial courts to try and execute the terrorists involved in different kinds of terrorist activities, including political violence.
