Case Registered Against Pilot of Shaheen Air flight Under The Anti-terrorism Act
A case has been registered against the pilot of Shaheen Air Flight which crash-landed in Lahore on November 3. The arrest took place after medical reports confirmed that he was intoxicated while flying the passenger aircraft.
At least 10 passengers were injured in this incident. According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the pilot was not only tired but also under the influence of alcohol. “A case was filed at the Sarwar Road Police Station against the pilot under Section 7 of the ATA,” Lahore’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Dr Haider Ashraf said. the accused has been taken in custody by the Punjab Police.
CAA’s acting director general Amjad Toor further announced that crew would have to undergo snap and random medical tests before operating a flight as a preventive measure to avid such incidents from taking place in future.
