Meet our National Law Scholar: Abiha Haider of The Millennium Universal College
“My name is Abiha Haider and I am a University of London International LLB (Honours) student at The Millennium Universal College (TMUC), Islamabad. I am also a member of the Pakistan Football Team since 2009 and the Captain of Pakistan Footy Team and have received many national and international awards and accolades, including 2 recent Guinness World Records in France! I have served as a member of the Pakistan Youth Assembly and also as an intern at Jamal & Jamal Legal Clinic.
I decided to opt for a career in law back in 2007 (in 6th grade) when the Chief Justice of Pakistan had been sacked and the ‘Lawyers’ Movement’ for his restoration had been active. Mr Ali Ahmad Kurd was an inspiration.
My life as a sportsperson has never been easy as it has involved busy training schedules and frequent international tours since the age of 11. Entering university as a law student was a cherry on top of my extremely busy and hectic routine and I knew it would never be an easy task.
Having been recognized as a national sports player, I realize that there are many parents, youngsters and families who look up to me as a role model, that is why in order to do justice to this role I believe I must continue diligently with my education as well. I am glad that I am not only able to complete my LLB degree successfully at the moment, but also offer my national duty as a football player at the same time.
I have always believed that my achievements have largely been made possible due to the support of a number of people who have had my back so I can move forward. I will forever be grateful for the support of my family throughout this journey, as well as the support of three amazing human beings and mentors at TMUC, Mr Sheikh Waqas, Mr Bilal Irshad and Mr Ahmad Waqqas for always being a click away and always making sure I don’t miss out on any of my law courses while being away on tournaments. I am also very thankful to Mr Faisal Mushtaq (CEO, TMUC) for always recognizing and supporting talented individuals of Pakistan.
I feel honoured to become part of Courting The Law’s National Law Scholars Programme 2019. I hope that through this platform my journey will keep on inspiring the youth of Pakistan and beyond and will hopefully be used as an example of sheer hard work, dedication, honesty and ambition. Nothing is impossible if you set your mind to achieving it so set your goals high and keep moving forward!”
