The first entirely Chinese- owned law firm has been launched in London to make money from investors solely interested in investing in the UK and Europe.
The Chinese law firm, YangTze Law, has been set up to give Chinese companies that are clients of the YangTzejiang Legal Network, which includes 40 law firms and 3,000 lawyers across China, access to British lawyers.
YangTze is set-up in co-operation with the Exeter-based law firm Michelmores. The Michelmores managing partner, Malcolm Dickinson, is also the chief executive of YangTze Law. The Chinese office was given an ABS (Alternative Business Structure) license in May by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. For now, YangTze Law is starting with a small office by Chancery Lane.
