Indian Home Ministry May Withhold Salaries Of Officers Joining Anti-Corruption Branch

The Indian Home Ministry of the central government may withhold salaries of officers from states joining Delhi’s Anti-Corruption branch (ACB) without formal permission from Lieutenant Governor.

The Home Ministry has also expressed that no appointments of police officers to the ACB may be made without its approval since the ACB is also a police station that falls under the jurisdiction of the Lieutenant Governor.

On 29th May 2015, the Indian Supreme Court decided not to put a stay on the powers of the Centre, stating that they were only tentative in nature, without expressly commenting on their validity.
