UN Adopts Pakistan-Sponsored Resolution On The Right To Self-Determination
The Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly which deals with social, humanitarian and cultural issues, has adopted a resolution sponsored by Pakistan and co-sponsored by 80 countries to reaffirm the universal realization of peoples’ right to self-determination. The resolution also firmly opposes acts of foreign military intervention, aggression and occupation.
The draft was presented by Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, reiterating the right to self-determination as a fundamental principle of the United Nations Charter.
