Punjab Institute Of Cardiology Scandal Decided By The Honourable Lahore High Court
The Lahore High Court disposed of the petition pertaining to Punjab Institute Of Cardiology with directions to Punjab health secretary to hold an inquiry into alleged irregularities in purchase of medicines at the institute. The court further directed the secretary to submit the report in one month to the registrar office.
It is pertinent to mention here that the petition was filed by the opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed contending that the record of the contract and prices set for the medicines were not being presented before the Public Accounts Committees of Punjab Assembly. He further submitted through his counsel Sheraz Zaka that the medical store’s management in connivance with government authorities had been misappropriating the public money and requested for an inquiry into the alleged wrongdoings in the purchase of these medicines.
