A Judge’s Resignation
A Lahore High Court Judge, Justice Mazhar Iqbal Sindhu, resigned yesterday (on 28th February, 2017) just two days before he was scheduled to appear before the Supreme Judicial Council over a corruption reference involving a massive bank transaction under his driver’s name.
Given that the staff of the same judge had also made some headlines earlier, it is incumbent upon the authorities to monitor the staff of those in positions of power, as sometimes the staff may take unfair or undue advantage of their bosses’ positions.
We hope that neither Justice Sindhu nor any of the other four judges called by the Supreme Judicial Council on the 2nd of March, 2017 are involved in any such corruption or misconduct. An honest and dedicated judiciary is a necessity of every society at all times.
