Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Building an Inclusive Judiciary and Supporting Women Judges

At the Inclusive Justice Symposium, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah delivered a powerful call for structural reforms to ensure a more inclusive, equitable, and supportive judicial system in Pakistan.

He addressed the urgent need to confront disrespectful behavior from bar members towards women judges, highlighting how such conduct undermines progress and discourages women from entering or staying in the legal profession. Justice Shah emphasized the following key reforms:

  1. Enactment of a Judicial Service Act for systemic empowerment.
  2. Inclusion of women’s perspectives in all policies.
  3. Improved courtroom facilities for women.
  4. Enhanced support systems for female judges.
  5. Active encouragement of women’s participation in the legal profession and judiciary.

This talk reinforces the importance of institutional change in advancing gender equality and building a judiciary that reflects the diversity and values of the society it serves.
