On May 25th 2015, a mob in Lahore attacked residences of the Christian community as well as places of worship, including St. Joseph Catholic Church, alleging blasphemy and accusing a Christian boy Humayun Faisal Masih for burning holy Quranic verses while burning newspapers.
Masih, who was reported to be mentally unstable, was safely taken into police custody and charged under 295c of the Pakistan Penal Code, while many mobsters have been charged for violence. Archbishop of Lahore, Sebastian Shaw, has also appreciated efforts of the local authorities for containing the angry mob.
