The Punjab government, in collaboration with Punjab Information Technology Board, has launched a project to eliminate the sale and purchase of fake stamp papers while making their online verification possible. It aims to eliminate forgery and speed up service delivery, along with increasing government receipts.
The process of E-stamping and verification of stamp paper of Rs 1,000 and above is expected to start in Lahore and if successful, this facility will be provided throughout the province.
A document known as the 32-A fine form would be available online for depositing stamp paper fee or duty. Previously people had to visit the Treasury office for verification of stamp paper, which was not only a cumbersome process but also had complaints of being non-transparent with regards to the sale and purchase of fake stamp papers.
