Due to new UK immigration rules, more than 3,000 foreign nurses, including Filipinos, outside of the European Economic Area (EEA), may be deported. If the implementation of the new immigration rules pushes forward through the next year, at least 6,620 nurses will be affected, recruited at a cost of £39.7 million.
UK’s immigration office authorized the policy to reduce the demand for migrant labor. The settlement rules were changed in 2011 to break the link between going to the UK to work and staying there permanently.
