Talk On Women And Judiciary At Kinnaird
Team CTL was invited last month to a talk by Professor Khawar Qureshi, QC (Queen’s Counsel) on ‘Women’s Empowerment in the Legal Fraternity and Role of Women in the Judiciary’ at the Nadra Hassan Law Department at Kinnaird College Lahore.
Professor Khawar Qureshi, is a practising Barrister, who became the youngest Asian to be appointed by her majesty as a Queen’s Counsel. He has been teaching at Cambridge University, Kings College London, London School of Economics, University of London (see http://www.serlecourt.co.uk/our-people/profile/khawar-qureshi-qc). Prof. Qureshi was also the youngest Barrister to represent the United Kingdom in International Court of Justice.
The talk was moderated by Ms. Sahar Bandial (Adjunct Faculty of LUMS) and was organized by Head of Nadra Hassan Law Department in Kinnaird College, Ms. Ayesha Jawad and Barrister Razia Monnoo.
Nadra Hassan Law Department is the first female law school in this region which was established at the prestigious Kinnaird College. It was inaugurated in March 2014 by the honorable Chief Justice of Pakistan and Lahore High Court and by renowned Advocate Supreme Court, Mr. Jawad Hassan and former AAD, Advocate-General at Supreme Court of Pakistan, under his mother’s name.
