Proposal Floated In Senate To Abolish CII
Islamabad: Opposition Senator Farhatullah Babar (PPP) proposed the disbanding of Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) while reflecting upon its recent decisions that contradicts women’s rights. The Senator further said that the Council had presented its last report back in 1997 and is of no good use now.
He said, “It has no constitutional role to play and frustrated with its controversial pronouncements some people call it “medieval non-sense at public expense.”
It should be noted that due to CII’s recent proposals which have been deemed as radically perilous by many, an air of uneasiness has been created and its effect can be seen in Parliament as well.
