The Department of Social and Welfare Development in Manila, Philippines (DSWD) has urged people on the internet to stop posting photos of the small child on leash wearing no clothes and kneeling on all fours to eat like a dog.
The photo was reportedly posted by the mother as a joke but it has been found to be in bad taste as well as in violation of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Act and under Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse law, holding the mother liable for child abuse.
The child has been temporarily taken into safe custody by DSWD and citizens have also been urged to report photos or videos of children in degrading situations to the DSWD or the Philippines National Police.
