Courting The Law brings you a recap of the landmark Pakistan International Disputes Weekend (PIDW) 2024, held on 11th and 12th May. This stellar event convened over 1,000 delegates, including representatives from High Courts, law firms and various sectors.
PIDW 2024 wasn’t just about numbers; it was about exploring the future of dispute resolution. 10 specialized panel discussions tackled thought-provoking topics, from navigating the complexities of China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) disputes to the impact of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) on foreign direct investment (FDI). Each discussion offered valuable insights for navigating the evolving legal landscape.
A special thank you to the Honourable Chief Justice of the High Court of Sindh, Karachi, Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, for his inspiring words that resonated deeply with all participants. His acknowledgement of PIDW as a transformative movement underscores our collective commitment to advancing dispute resolution in Pakistan and beyond.
PIDW 2024 also witnessed the launch of three groundbreaking initiatives:
- PEC ADR Centre: A dedicated platform for alternative dispute resolution.
- AMACG: Fostering regional collaboration among ADR centers across Asia and the MENA region.
- DRBF Society of Construction Law: Promoting excellence and innovation in construction dispute resolution.
We at Courting The Law are thrilled to be a part of this momentous occasion as PIDW’s media partner. With PIDW 2025 already in the works, the future of dispute resolution in Pakistan is undeniably bright!
