Supreme Court Decides Timeframe for Judiciary

The Supreme Court passed a judgment, on Thursday, which aims to lessen the sufferings of litigants as a result of delays in verdicts. The Supreme Court now bounds the high courts and subordinate judiciary to give judgments within a specific time decided in the judgment.

Justice Mian Saqib Nisar authored the judgment: Civil courts are now supposed to deliver judgments within 30 days after the conclusion of the trial; District courts will have to deliver judgments within 45 days and High Courts will have to deliver judgments within 90 days.

Disciplinary action will be taken against judges who do not meet these timelines.
