Libya Bans Entry of Pakistanis, Yemenis and Iranians
Libya’s internationally recognized administration in the east has banned Pakistanis, Yemenis, and Iranians from entering the country, due to security reasons. Sudan, Bangladesh, Palestine and Syria are also included in the list of countries which are not allowed to obtain a Libyan visa.
Top army commander Khalifa Haftar, allied to Thinni, signed the latest ban, which cited the overall security situation and a need to preserve “the nation’s security and stability”. Haftar has blamed Sudanese, Palestinians, Yeminis and Syrians repeatedly for having joined militant groups.
Libya is also a key conduit for Pakistani migrants heading to European shores. A number of migrants have passed away died while trying to cross the Mediterranean in small boats which took off from the Libyan coast.
