Summary: This Bill seeks to further amend the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (Act No V of 1898). The new amendments are to be added after section 54, as a new section 54-A which would contain that a person arrested shall be informed of the grounds of his or her arrest, by the police officer arresting. The person shall have the right to consult any legal practitioner of his choice. Moreover, the arrested person’s family should be made aware of his or her arrest and whereabouts.
