IG Sindh Orders Action Against Cleric For Torturing Seminary Student
A seminary student of Madrassa Usmania in Ali Akbar Goth area of Karachi was tortured by a cleric. A health center dispenser said that the boy had severe stick torture marks on his back. On Thursday, 16 June 2016, the Inspector General Sindh, Allah Dino Khawaja ordered Senior Superintendent Police East to submit a report at the earliest under strict guidelines, including a proper record of the statements of eyewitnesses and the victim’s family members, in order to provide speedy delivery of justice.
Last year, a 10-year old seminary student had fallen prey to the brutal attack of torture by his teacher in Pakpattan village. In 2008, a 7-year old blind student had died after being the victim of a deadly punishment by his seminary teacher.
