FIA’s Report To Supreme Court Against SECP Chair

A team from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) revealed the involvement of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chair Zafar Hijazi in meddling with the records of companies owned by the Sharif family. The team decided on registering a First Information Report (FIR) against him.

A 28-page inquiry report was submitted by the FIA team to the Supreme Court (SC). It recognized and supported the stance of the joint investigation team (JIT) searching the offshore assets owned by former Prime Minister Sharif as disclosed by the Panama case.

The SECP was holding its first bi-weekly meeting since the establishment of the investigation group – the meeting had been put off as long as the examiners stayed on SECP premises.

Rumours circled that the meeting was postponed until Tahir Mahmood, the magistrate of the Company Law Division, left on ex-Pakistan leave.
