IHC Rejects PTI’s Plea Against Foreign Funding
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf’s (PTI) recent plea to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) with regard to its foreign funding has been rejected. PTI has urged the IHC to prevent the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from hearing Akbar S Babar’s petition regarding the party’s alleged foreign funding.
PTI’s plea to issue a stay order was also rejected by the IHC. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani said that the case had been going on since 2014 and had already once been referred back to the ECP.
Previously the party under question had pleaded against the ECP’s jurisdiction regarding the case but their efforts were also ignored earlier in May by a full bench of the Commission.
Kiyani adjourned the case until further notice by asking the petitioner and respondent to first submit their replies.
