First E-Court Established In Rawalpindi, Pakistan

The first e-court has been established in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, under the federal government.

It was inaugurated by Special Judge Accountability Court-III Sohail Nasir, and statements were recorded of witnesses such as National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) official Shoaib Mahmood from Sukkur, and Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan’s (SECP) registrar Shaukat Hussain, via Skype.

The aim of e-court is to make it convenient for witnesses to join case hearings through Skype when they are at distant places, with the permission of the judge. This also provides benefit to the ill and the aged and is aimed at ensuring provision of speedy and inexpensive justice to the people.
