Egypt court orders Mubarak’s retrial over killings in 2011

Former president Hosni Mubarak has been ordered by Judge Anwar Gabri of the Egyptian Court of Cassation for a retrial regarding his involvement in the killings of hundreds of protestors in the 2011 demonstrations that expelled his regime.

Mubarak was convicted of corruption earlier this year and sentenced to three years in prison. This order will overturn his release by Cairo’s Criminal Court last November, and he is scheduled to stand trial beginning November 5 late this year.  This is the third time this case has been heard but its verdict will be the final verdict in this case.
