Voters in Ohio Reject Amendment for Marijuana Legalization
Voters in Ohio rejected a suggestion to legalize the medical and recreational use of marijuana.
The proposal would have decriminalized the use of marijuana by allowing retail sale of different marijuana-infused products for those who are 21 years of age or older to grow almost four flowering marijuana plants and creating a new state government agency called the “Marijuana Control Commission.”
The measure was controversial due to the fact that it would have given complete rights for the production and sale of marijuana to fixed sellers and would have limited additional growth facilities, which would in turn create a prearranged monopoly.
