Five Time Prayer And Sweeping Of Mosque Ascribed As Punishment To Man Guilty Of Selling Drugs

Dadu: A man who was found guilty of selling drugs has been ordered by the Civil Judge to sweep and pray five times a day at a mosque in Benazirabad as punishment for one year.

The defendant in question was caught by the police while selling drugs (bhang). After his arrest and trial, Irfan Ahmed Bhand claimed that he was pleased with his punishment and would live his life in accordance with Islamic teachings.

The punishment was given by Judge Gul Mohammad Brohi. Judge Brohi warned the defendant and guilty party in the case of the repercussions of not abiding by the order. Judge Brohi stated that Bhand would be closely watched and monitored by the Imam of the mosque, and failure to fulfil the prescribed punishment would lead to imprisonment for two years.
