Insolvency and Debt Enforcement: SECP’s Vision for Reform I Chairman SECP Akif Saeed

In this video, Mr. Akif Saeed, Chairman of the SECP, delivers a key address at a two-day workshop on Insolvency and Debt Enforcement. He emphasizes the need to move away from liquidation-based laws and adopt a unified insolvency framework.

To support this shift, Mr. Saeed draws lessons from international models, such as the UK Insolvency Act and India’s Bankruptcy Code. Furthermore, he proposes creating two working groups under the Ministry of Finance to lead the reform process.

Overall, his goal is to modernize Pakistan’s corporate legal system and make it more effective in managing financial distress.
