Chaos In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly As PTI MPA Mocks PPP Lawmaker
A heated debate arose in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly recently as Deputy Speaker Dr Meher Taj Roghani allowed the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Public Health Engineering Minister Shah Farman to address the House with regards to the ongoing protest against the distribution of public funds.
Tensions grew as PPP lawmakers challenged supposed anomalies in the distribution of finances across the province. However, things became worse as the PTI MPA made an unpleasant comment towards his PPP female counterpart. This happened when Farman was defending the ruling party’s position and PPP MPA Nighat Orakzai interrupted his speech to assert that a significant amount of development funds had been diverted to Nowshera while other areas within the province were ignored. Nowshera lies under the constituency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.
The PTI lawmaker said Orakzai had misinterpreted the facts and asked her to “meet [him] separately” so that he could explain the distribution of funds to her. Consequently, chaos broke out in the KP Assembly and all opposition lawmakers started protesting against the offensive comment made by Shah Farman. Orakzai also went to complain to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker, Asad Qaiser and made clear her stance against the insult.
